Measurement Solutions makes new team appointments

“As we continue to grow, our philosophy is always to offer the right solution first,” said Tagg. “However, of equal importance, is ensuring we deliver best-in-class training and technical support. This was fully-implemented in 2019, with an additional dedicated training engineer. We are very proud to maintain a 2:1 ratio on sales and support. This provides us with a foundation for further product sales growth in 2020.”

To support continued rapid growth, the company has welcomed two new additions. Charlotte Woodwards joins in the newly-created position of marketing & sales executive. Woodwards will be responsible for all aspects of marketing for Measurement Solutions and will support the future growth plans.

“We specifically want to develop our digital marketing channel further in the coming months,” she stated. “We have some very exciting plans aimed at showcasing specific solutions, such as composite part inspection and the creation of digital training resources.”

The Creaform HandySCAN and MetraSCAN products in particular continue to drive Measurement Solutions growth year on year, penetrating a wide range of markets and applications - in particular the new HandySCAN Black Elite launched in April 2019 with VDI/VDE certification and improved accuracy down to 0.020mm. The new product is said to have catapulted the company’s potential in quality control scanning applications.

“It was immediately apparent, due to the increased demand for demonstrations, that we would require an additional account manager to serve the South of England and Wales,” stated Tagg.

So, in January, Measurement Solutions welcomed Tom Pearce to its ever-growing team of skilled engineers. Measurement Solutions says Pearce - based in Bristol - will bring a different dimension to the company.

“We have a combined metrology experience of 176 years,” added Tagg, “However, the new Creaform Go!SCAN Spark has been developed specifically with product design and reverse engineering as its core market.

“Measurement Solutions now has a perfect platform to engage with our customers, demonstrate and possibly educate, end-to-end RE solutions. For too many years, I have witnessed poor processes and a lack of industry knowledge in converting scan data into useable CAD files. At Measurement Solutions, we focus on ‘solutions’, not simply selling products.”

A further strategic move in 2020 sees the addition of a dedicated metrology specialist, Majid Yaqub. Measurement Solutions remains qualified as an ‘expert level’ partner within the Metrologic Group. Maintaining these partner levels requires capabilities to sell and train metrology software on all measuring devices, including CMMs, portable arms, optical devices and robot measuring cells.

“The CMM market will be a focus for us in 2020,” commented Yaqub. “We have every skillset required to service, calibrate and upgrade existing customer machines. The purchase of a new CMM will always be an option; they remain the most accurate method of validating a components dimension. However, they also come with a heavy price tag.”

Manufacturing output in the UK faces some big challenges in 2020. Producing quality components, whilst expectations of process improvements will only grow, but without the guarantee of long-term contracts, this naturally stifles budgets and investments.

“A CMM upgrade, or ‘retro-fit’ is a perfect solution to consider,” concluded Tagg. “We offer all the benefits of a new machine. These include the capability to run a Renishaw PH20 5-axis touch-trigger system, a Revo 5-axis measurement system - or why not consider adding laser scanning capability on to the existing CMM; it’s the most accurate non-contact solution. All of which offer a dramatic impact on inspection timescales. New controllers, bearings, and error mapping effectively brings a 30-year-old machine back to life at a third of the cost of a new machine.”
